Get Fit Fridays - Week 1

I know I'm not the only one, but I have some goals to be healthier, and one of those goals is to eat more nutritious foods. And if I happen to lose some weight, then so be it ...Really though, who am I kidding? Losing the weight is what motivates me.

So here's the plan.... I am going to post weekly about my weight-loss/get healthy goals and progress. Why? Because I need someone to be accountable to, and because I would love to hear your stories!Pleae feel free to join me in this get healthy adventure. Just send me a comment/e-mail/etc. and I will be happy to post your progress or a link to your blog post too. And thus begins:

Overall Goal:
Lose 20% of body weight (I will not be posting my weight on here)

Motivation:
% to lose     -     Reward
       17%     -     Hair cut
       14%     -     Nails
       11%     -     Massage
         7%     -     New make up
         4%     -     Pedicure
         0%     -     Shopping Spree

Goal for this week: Read the Primal Blueprint. I am hoping that it will encourage me to adopt a lifestyle change based around health. This is the basis of my husband's change in health, and he has made incredible progress so far. I'm proud of him, and I'm hoping that the principles I learn will help me too.

Here's how I'll structure it: Week 1 - Make and Post goals. Weeks 2 through ? - Start recording progress against those goas, as well as a health-related challenge and accomplishment for that week, related insights, and recipes that fit in with my new Primal lifestyle.

So, what are your health-related goals and how do you plan to accomplish them?

Spanish Reading List

One of my goals for the week has been to go through the storage closet on our porch so that we can add a freezer chest (yay for getting better values on meats)! I pulled out a box of Spanish books that I thought were worth keeping. Well, since we don't have infinite storage for books that I don't have time to read , I'm consolidating my hard copy literature into a reading list:

-Marianela por Benito Perez Galdós
-La Vida as Sueño por Calderón de la Barca
-Fuente Ovejuna por Lope De Vega
-El Tragaluz por Antonio Buero Vallejo
-El sueño De Venecia por Paloma Díaz-Mas

Miguel de Unamuno (I took a whole class on this guy)
- Del sentimiento trágico De LA Vida
-Amor y pedagogía
-La agonía Del cristianismo
-Antología poética
-Niebla (can't wait to read it. Just downloaded the ebook)
-En Torino all caticismo

I'm pretty much just keeping one grammar book and my phonetics (my favorite subject) stuff!

The Garage

A few weeks ago they changed our drawers at work. I packed up all of my papers, highlighters, and lotions;filed everything; and threw away the junk. I think it inspired me, because this past weekend we decided to tackle the garage.
Scattered life jackets with CO2 inserts

It had been a mishmashed pile of decorations, papers, and sailing gear. Between wind storms that knocked bins over, laundry baskets full of random tid-bits that I threw together when I moved, and sailing gear that had been thrown apart as we frantically grabbed cleaning supplies, the garage was a bit of a disaster. The breaking point was when we went into the garage to gather together the sailing stuff and take it to the lake. As I was walked out of the garage, I found a little visitor who had decided to come live in our space.

Our visitor - came to find out she had about 5 other friends too!

After we had our garage sprayed for spiders I decided it was the perfect time to get organized. I swept out all of the leaves (which I have been meaning to do since last fall), dust, and spiders. Branden brought in some shelves and I packed up our cabinet and moved everything into its spot. All that's left is to consolidate all of my craft supplies, go through one box of papers, and print out some matching labels so that everything has a more cohesive feel.

Can you spot: 1. Furniture to be moved into the house 2. Christmas decorations (including a tree and wreath) 3. Organized lifejackets and no other sailing gear (we eventually did get the box out to the boat) 4. The perfect space for a car!

Goodbye from Finn hanging out while I clean the garage
